Description: Modern Family is a tv series that showcases a diverse, dynamic "Modern Family". It covers all the aspects of what society has defined as acceptable for modern families of today. A few of the family dynamics the show includes are a gay couple, a remarried couple with a signifcant age difference, and a traditional family. All three of these separate families are related to each other, either through blood or through marriage.They all live in a typical, California, suburban-like area in nice homes. The show is presented from a humorous angle with subtle jokes all throughout the 30 minute program. While humorous, the show presents several messages to its viewers on what is okay, acceptable, and desirable in regards to hot topic issues. Characters: The Dunphy Family
Phil - Phil is in the real estate business, but he is better known in the show for his job as a dad. He's always scheming up new adventures with his kids and doing everything he can for his wife. Although he may be perceived as somewhat odd or quirky, he is an all around good dad.
Claire - Claire is a stay at home mom who seems to always be on the go. Keeping her house in order and her kids out of trouble is portrayed as a job in itself for Claire on the show. Along with being a mom, she is also the daughter of Jay and the sister of Mitchell.
Haley - Haley is the typical teenage girl. She gets into arguments with her parents, gets annoyed with her siblings, and can't get enough of her boyfriend. She is very independent, but somewhat "blonde" at times. Despite all this, you know she loves her family and would not trade them for anything.
Alex - Alex is the middle child in the Dunphy family, and also the brain of the Dunphy family. She is very intelligent and wise for her age, but she still enjoys having fun with her siblings and just being a kid.
Luke - Luke is a father's son. He is always trying out new adventures with his dad, whether their his ideas or Phil's. As the youngest child, and the only boy, he has to deal with his sisters' just acting like sisters. He manages to hold his own though and provide lots of good laughs in the show.
The Jay Pritchett Family
Jay Pritchett - Jay Pritchett is the father of Claire and Mitchell. Recently remarried to his new, much younger wife, Gloria, he once again fulfills the father role with his step son Manny. Initially he comes off as a little rough around the edges with his "tell it like it is" attitude and opinions, but really he is a family guy at heart.
Gloria - Gloria is a Columbian beauty who always speaks her mind - in any situation. She embraces every aspect of her new family, and is the best mom she can be to her son, Manny, from a previous relationship. She does everything in her power to not limit him in his aspirations.
Manny - Manny is the kid who is not afraid of anything. He provides lots of laughs with all of his endeavors. He goes after anything that interests him, and he never shoots down any seemingly impossible feats.
The Pritchett and Tucker Family
Mitchell - Mitchell is Jay's son and Claire's brother. He works as a lawyer but also serves as the family man. The saying "opposites attract" applies to Mitchell and his partner Cameron. Mitchell is the more practical, down-to-earth half of the relationship while Cam serves as the more dramatic, expressive counterpart.
Cameron - Cameron is a lovable, flamboyant guy. He is always seen picturing himself in dramatic acting scenes, and just being Cam. He balances out his longtime boyfriend, Mitchell, very well. He is also a great dad to Lily, the daughter he and Mitchell adopted.
Lily - Lily is originally from Vietnam, but became a Tucker-Pritchett when her dads adopted her. She fits right in with this crazy family. Although she speaks very few words, her sweet, innocent personality shines through.
